There was developed a novel, one-step, microwave-assisted synthesis of of photoswitchable hybrid organic-inorganic nanostructures (QD-L) based on styrylquinoline ligands (L) and CdS quantum dots (QD). QD's diameter is 2.5 nm, L is organic photochromic ligand - N-methyl-2-(E)-(4-[9-mercaptononoxy]styryl)quinoline iodide as L1 and 2-(4-[9-9-mercaptononoxy]styryl)quinoline as L2. Hybrid structure's (QD-L) absorbance and luminescence spectrum are superposition of QD's and L's spectrum. In the hybrid structure QD-L1 ligand L1 retains trans-cis photoisomerization ability, what allows to control spectral properties of whole system by switching L1 between different photostationary states by means of irradiation with light of different wavelengths. Energy transfer (FRET) from QD to ligand was observed in QD-L2, what leads to QD's luminescence quenching.
