Abstract The main objective of the large-scale quality analysis of S3D movies is to gain a better understanding of how quality control was performed in different movies. Also several novel quality metrics are presented, including channel swap detection, evaluation of temporal shifts between stereoscopic views and depth continuity. Key idea - this market become massive if 3D is become headache-free. 3D TV-sets become better and better, but content is still really painful sometimes, so pretty few amount of people do not use 3D TV-sets for 3D movies. To achieve widespread adoption of S3D it is necessary to decrease the number of viewers who experience discomfort while watching S3D movies. In the last few years we have developed more than 10 S3D technical quality metrics for detection and evaluation of specific types of artifacts. Conducted analysis of 105 S3D movies based on these metrics provides a better understanding of S3D quality trends and main problems of S3D movie production.
