The talk presents the results of a small-scale quantitative study at Lomonosov Moscow State University performed in order to determine English Language Teaching majors’ expectations of and attitudes to their own and their teachers' pronunciation. The author argues that following an ELF-focused phonetics syllabus might help the future teachers of English (ELT majors) gain more insight into the actual status of English in the modern world as well as its high phonological variability.
