Couple infertility is a severe medical condition, and it is often causedby male infertility. Development of novel approaches to recoverspermatogenesis is actual due to the lack of effective therapeuticinstruments. Multipotent mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSC)could be a promising cell-based therapeutic tool to recoverspermatogenesis as they play crucial role in regulation of reparationand regeneration processes in an organism, partially by secreting ofa wide spectrum of molecules stimulating tissue angio- andneurogenesis, activating endogenous tissue-specific stem cells, andmodulating immune processes. Particularly, MSC produce severalkey growth factors and cytokines necessary for spermatogenesismaintenance. Thus, secreted products of MSC can be used as apromising instrument to restore spermatogenesis. We developed acombined biomaterial to provide optimal delivery and release ofthese products into the testis of rats with experimentalcryptorchidism.
