Neurosurgical removal of brainstem and fourth ventricle tumors is associated with a risk of development of dysphagia. To reduce this complication, intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring (IONM) of the motor nuclei of the X, IX, XII cranial nerves (CN) is performed. It includes CN nuclei mapping and corticobulbar motor-evoked potentials (CoMEP). Moreover, it has not been established fnally, which methodology of CoMEP should be used to obtain a high monitorability rate of modality. The aim of our study was to assess the feasibility of CN nuclei mapping and CoMEP in predicting dysphagia after posterior fossa tumor removal.
