Atmospheric pollution in large cities by carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and irritant n-Alkanes is one of priority tasks for assessing air quality and risks to public health. Source apportionment recently performed for the largest northernmost megacity in Europe (Popovicheva et al., 2024) shows the need of further quantification by deeper organic composition analyses and toxicity assessments. Year-round campaign was carried out in the large European metropolitan area, Moscow megacity. PM10 sampling was performed at the Aerosol Complex MSU located on the urban background territory. Sixteen priority PAH compounds and twelve n-Alkanes (n-С20-С31) were measured by gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and high-performance liquid chromatography.
