An effective approach to the creation of new drug candidates with improved pharmacokinetic profiles is the design of new structures by molecular hybridization of compounds of various classes. In recent years, the 1,2,5-oxadiazole-2-oxide (furoxan) motif has been the subject of increased attention owing to the ability of furoxans to release nitric oxide(NO).
