- Аннотация: A method for the construction of approximate formulae based on the use of the well-known two-sided asymptotic expressions of the solution to the corresponding problem (the method of asymptotic interpolation) is suggested as well as the technique for a substantial extension of the validity range of one-sided asymptotic formulae based on the procedure of small or large parameter ‘elimination’ (the method of asymptotic extrapolation). The material is presented on an example of convective mass and heat transfer and hydrodynamics problems. A comparison of the results obtained with a variety of specific cases, for which exact and approximate formulae are available shows good accuracy and wide possibilities of the methods suggested.
