- Аннотация: The method described provides for the laying of a synthetic heat insulator on the embankment slopes. This creates a cooling effect and promotes the movement of the permafrost table from the basement to the body of the embankment. Thaw depths in permafrost soils under road embankments are calculated analytically with a new methodbased on approximation of numerical solutions to the 2D Stefan problem. The method allows choosing the requiredthickness of heat insulation on the embankment slopes to provide the stabilization of the underlying permafrost.
