Аннотация:Blood clotting is the most important physiological response of the body to violations of the integrityor function of the vascular wall. This process is nonstationary, has many not fully understood mechanismsof spatial regulation, and its understanding is extremely necessary to prevent a large number of life-threateningconditions. This review is devoted to the history of the study of blood clotting processes by a team of biophysicists,graduates and employees of the Department of Biophysics of the Faculty of Physics of MoscowState University, whose efforts created one of the leading Russian scientific schools for experimental and theoreticalresearch of the hemostasis system. The review describes the main areas of research that have includedmany different aspects of the problem, from the development of theoretical models of blood clotting to clinicalstudies of new methods for assessing the state of hemostasis.
